Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Roman.
Santos looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Roman jumps guard but Santos stands there with Roman around his waist. Roman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roman tries to clinch up but Santos circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Roman tries to land a front kick but Santos steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Roman shoots in looking for a takedown. Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Roman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Santos throws a jab but it's blocked by Roman.
Roman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Santos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Roman shoots in but no luck this time.

Santos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Roman sprawls well. Roman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Santos gets slowly back to his feet.
Santos closes the distance and clinches up with Roman, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes Roman against the cage but Roman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Santos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Roman fails to land the takedown.

Roman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Roman tries to pull guard but Santos forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Santos wants a takedown but no success here.
Daniel Roman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Santos.

Santos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Roman is looking to break free of the clinch but Santos has double underhooks.
Santos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Santos tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Roman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Roman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Santos won't allow Roman to sweep him here.

Roman is looking for a triangle but Santos pushes his legs off easily.

Santos trying to control but Roman is working from the bottom.
Roman wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Santos is now in half guard.
Santos wants to control but Roman is keeping him busy.
Roman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Roman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Santos scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Roman is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santos is taking a breather. Roman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jorge Santos wasn't active enough on the ground.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roman as he avoids it easily.

Roman darts in and clinches Santos up against the cage.
Santos jumps guard but Roman stands there with Santos around his waist. Santos gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Roman.
I think Roman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
