Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davidoff Safir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Davidoff Safir!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Safir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Safir somewhat.

Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Davidoff Safir.
Safir keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jon Jones just wasn't active enough.
Safir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Safir fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.

Jones throws a nice looking combination but Safir bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Jones jumps guard and drags Safir to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Safir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Safir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jones wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Davidoff Safir wasn't active enough on the ground.

Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Safir to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Safir wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Safir shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones punishes Safir's body with a nice straight punch.
Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Safir's waist but Safir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A lull in the action here as Jones stalls from top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Safir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Safir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Safir defends it well.
Safir has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jones decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Safir is breathing heavily.

Jones has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Safir's face.

Jones wants to take Safir's back here but Safir is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Safir is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
