PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Varve Resna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deon Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Resna might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to RAWR. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Varve Resna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deon Walker!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Resna really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Resna manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walker tries to clinch but Resna is having none of it.
Walker takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Resna pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Walker back to the cage. Resna follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Resna fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Resna.
Walker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Resna swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Resna looking for a sweep but Walker has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker is landing with some decent strikes but Resna is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Walker gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Walker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Varve Resna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deon Walker.
Resna fails with the takedown.
Resna swinging wildly here.
Resna scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Walker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Walker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Walker prevents Resna from getting the reversal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walker takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Resna shoots in looking for a takedown. Walker tries to sprawl out of it but Resna keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab from Resna does it's job there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deon Walker dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Walker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Resna to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Walker is trying to control the position but Resna postures up.

Resna avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Resna throwing strikes from guard but Walker blocks nicely.
Walker keeping moving, preventing Resna from controlling successfully.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Resna can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Walker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Walker is looking to stand up but Resna isn't so interested in that idea.
Walker is controlling Resna's posture.

Deon Walker has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Resna clinches up against the cage.

Walker gets control of Resna's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Resna missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Resna throws an elbow that misses. Walker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Resna's guard. Nice move by Walker!
Resna wants to stand up but Walker is controlling him.
Resna keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass.

Walker stands up from Resna's guard - Walker perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Walker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deon Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Walker moves in looking to clinch but Resna pushes him off.
Resna shoots for a double leg takedown but Walker sprawls well. He's pushed Resna's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Resna fails in his attempt to clinch.

Resna is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Walker is controlling him.
Walker trying to control but Resna is working from the bottom.
Resna manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Resna thowing shots but they're missing.

Walker is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Resna lands a heavy elbow.
Poor strikes thrown by Resna there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Walker is rocked!
Walker keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Resna thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walker in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Resna drops a big elbow. That's hurt Walker! More shots from Resna and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Varve Resna!
