Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tourney Champ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Rayner!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rayner scores with a head kick.


It looks like Tourney Champ has been cut.

Champ fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rayner to the ground. Champ is now in Rayner's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rayner wants to stand but Champ is controlling the position.
Champ slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Champ is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Champ looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rayner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Champ in particular looking to stall.

Rayner is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Champ lands a decent elbow from side control.

Champ is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rayner knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Champ stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No joy there for Rayner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Champ tries a head kick but it misses.
Rayner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Champ fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rayner sprawls well initially but Champ persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Champ working over Rayner with some ground and pound. Rayner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Rayner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Champ. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Champ has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We're going to have a standup here because Tourney Champ wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Rayner tries for a takedown but Champ sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Champ closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rayner circles away.
Rayner misses with a wild combination.
Champ shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rayner sprawls well. Rayner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Champ gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
