The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cruz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Barnes throws a body punch but Cruz moves out of range.
Cruz throws a nice outside leg kick.
Steve Dela Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnes is breathing heavily.
Cruz throws a right hand that Barnes ducks under and follows up with a left that Barnes also avoids with ease.
Barnes tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cruz is able to avoid easily.
Cruz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

It looks like John Barnes has been cut.
Cruz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barnes manages to avoid it.
Cruz loads up on a big right hand but Barnes slips the punch.
Barnes moves out of range as Cruz strikes.
Cruz lands a slapping body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cruz cracks Barnes with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cruz has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Barnes to stand back up!

Barnes is rocked!
Cruz lands with a shot to the body.
Oh Barnes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Barnes blocks a head kick by Cruz.
Cruz lands a body shot.
Cruz drops Barnes with a huge uppercut! Barnes drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Cruz is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
