These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Wladimir Putin has been cut.
Putin shoots in but no luck this time.

Lifflander paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Putin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Putin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Putin drops his hands momentarily and Lifflander takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Lifflander lands a nice hook to Putin's body. Putin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lifflander stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lifflander wants it to stay on the feet.
Lifflander throws a lazy right hand but Putin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Lifflander tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Putin is able to avoid easily.

Putin is trying desperately to land a takedown but Lifflander is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Putin.

Lifflander sends Putin crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Lifflander is motioning to the referee to let Putin up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Putin is still on wobbly legs! Can Lifflander finish him?
Putin gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Lifflander points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Putin wakes up just in time to hear Lifflander thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
