PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Morimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Roy Williams was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lee Morimoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roy Williams!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams dodges the punch combination from Morimoto.
Morimoto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Williams swivels and escapes.
Morimoto misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Morimoto dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Morimoto's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Morimoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morimoto shoots in for a double leg but Williams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Morimoto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Morimoto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Williams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Morimoto pinned against the cage. Morimoto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Morimoto sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.

Williams tries to score a body lock takedown but Morimoto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Williams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Williams can't get the takedown.
Morimoto has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Williams is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Williams tightens his grip and picks Morimoto up, before dumping him to the ground. Morimoto manages to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Morimoto is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Morimoto is pulling down on Williams's head to control his posture.

Morimoto has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.

Williams has gone for a leg lock! Morimoto slips out almost immediately though and dives into Williams's guard.
Williams is looking to sweep but instead, Morimoto has passed into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Morimoto in particular looking to stall.

Morimoto seems to be looking for submissions.
Morimoto is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Morimoto has hold of Williams's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Williams manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Morimoto has closed the distance and engaged Williams in a clinch.
Morimoto is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Morimoto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Williams pulls his leg out and moves away.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Morimoto sprawls well. Morimoto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Williams gets slowly back to his feet.

Morimoto clinches up with Williams and pushes him back against the cage.
Williams tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Morimoto is working for takedown but Williams is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Morimoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams tries to score a body lock takedown but Morimoto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Morimoto is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Morimoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Williams's guard.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Morimoto postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
Morimoto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Williams is looking for a triangle but Morimoto pushes his legs off easily.
Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Morimoto passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Morimoto is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Williams has escaped the position, nice work there.
Williams is trying to escape the position but Morimoto is controlling the position.

Williams tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Morimoto easily slips into full mount!

Morimoto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Williams for as long as he can get away with.
Morimoto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Morimoto creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Williams wants to take the fight to the mat but Morimoto manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Williams sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Morimoto's guard.

Morimoto shoots in looking for a takedown but Williams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Morimoto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Morimoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Williams showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee Morimoto showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Morimoto has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
