PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naser Al Shami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolfgang Steuermann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steuermann has chosen Ein Prosit as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wolfgang Steuermann was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Naser Al Shami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Wolfgang Steuermann!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steuermann gets a double leg takedown into Al Shami's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Al Shami is looking to stand up but Steuermann isn't so interested in that idea.
Steuermann tries to free his leg and advance position but Al Shami is retaining full guard.
Al Shami wants to stand and escape but Steuermann is having none of it.
Steuermann trying to control the position from guard on top but Al Shami is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Steuermann stops Al Shami from standing up.
Al Shami has momentary wrist control but Steuermann slips an elbow through the middle.
Steuermann won't allow Al Shami to get back to his feet.
Steuermann stands up over Al Shami, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steuermann slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Al Shami tries to escape but Steuermann is in control.
Steuermann cracks Al Shami with an elbow. That is naaassty.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steuermann lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Al Shami down.

Steuermann wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Al Shami, who protects the arm well.
Al Shami is not content to let Steuermann control the position.

Al Shami knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steuermann on the ground.
Al Shami is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Steuermann lands some shots froms side control.
Steuermann scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Al Shami is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Steuermann can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wolfgang Steuermann!
