Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Jerry Springer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Barris!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springer lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Springer throws a hook to the side of Barris's head but Barris sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Barris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Barris throws a head kick that misses.
Barris lands a nice looking body shot.
Barris turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Springer throws a sloppy head kick
and Barris counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Springer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Springer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Barris avoids the head kick by Springer.
Barris blocks a head kick by Springer.
Springer throws a series of punches but Barris avoids them all with ease.
A nice leg kick lands there from Springer.
Springer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barris.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barris connects with a jab.
Springer tries to bum rush Barris with a series of wild strikes but Barris uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Springer slaps away a takedown attempt from Barris, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Springer throws a jab when Barris was well out of range.
Barris shoots in looking for a takedown. Springer tries to sprawl out of it but Barris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Springer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sloppy strikes from Springer. Those never looked like landing.
Springer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Barris counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Springer thinking.

Barris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Springer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Barris looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barris is keen to just control but Springer is a slippery customer.
Springer is trying to stand.

Barris is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Springer still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Springer has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Barris looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Springer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barris keeps working.
Springer tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barris knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Barris is trying to get back to full guard.

Barris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Springer pulls his head out easily.
Springer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Barris is controlling Springer's trapped leg to prevent Springer from advancing to side control.
Springer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barris manages to get to full guard.
Springer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barris controls Springer momentarily but Springer frees himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barris keeping full guard, as Springer tries to pass.

Barris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Springer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Springer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Springer is sitting in close to Barris's body. Barris has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Springer is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Springer is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Barris.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). John Barris!
