PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Katsumi Nasu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvaro Ibanez Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nasu comes into the arena with Shura no Hana blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Katsumi Nasu has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Katsumi Nasu seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Katsumi Nasu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alvaro Ibanez Santos!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Santos shoots in for a double leg but Nasu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nasu scores with the left hand. Santos knows he should have avoided that one.
Santos walks into a jab.
Santos shoots in for a takedown but Nasu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Katsumi Nasu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvaro Ibanez Santos.
Nasu throws a jab but it's blocked by Santos.
Santos cracks a nice hook into Nasu's ribs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nasu on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Santos closes the distance and clinches up with Nasu, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes Nasu against the cage but Nasu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A big left from Nasu misses.
Alvaro Ibanez Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Santos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Santos moves out of range of the strikes.
Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nasu is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Nasu circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nasu tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nasu to the ground. Nasu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Santos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Santos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Nasu is keeping the position.
Nasu wants to sweep but no luck.
Nasu wants to stand up but Santos is controlling him.
Nasu looking to control.
Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nasu keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Katsumi Nasu.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Santos.
The ground and pound from Santos seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Santos tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nasu tries to buck Santos off but Santos is having none of it.
Nasu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Santos's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Santos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Santos takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Santos is working for an americana but Nasu has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Santos was thinking about the submission.
Nasu trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nasu trying to keep a closed guard but Santos is proving a slippery customer.
Santos is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nasu has momentary wrist control but Santos slips an elbow through the middle.
Nasu trying to control the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Santos's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Nasu keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Santos throws a strike but Nasu rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Santos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nasu is one step ahead there.
Nasu tries to free his leg and advance position but Santos is retaining full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nasu wants to get up but he can't break Santos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Santos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Nasu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Katsumi Nasu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvaro Ibanez Santos.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nasu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nasu cracks Santos with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nasu catches Santos with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
A telegraphed right hand from Nasu misses the target.
Santos slips a straight right by Nasu.

Santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nasu as he avoids it easily.
Santos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nasu scores with a body shot.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Nasu bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Santos's head.
Nasu throws a big shot that misses.
Katsumi Nasu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nasu wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nasu lands a jab.
Nasu scores with a nice right hand.


Santos is rocked!
Nasu lands a body shot.
That kick from Nasu tenderised Santos's leg. Santos is trying to keep his angry face on.
Nasu steps in with a hook that catches Santos right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Nasu follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Santos looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Katsumi Nasu!
