PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiruku Matah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hiruku Matah was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chad Fisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hiruku Matah!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matah looking to score a takedown here. Fisher is defending well but Matah drives through and ends up in Fisher's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Matah thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Matah throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fisher works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Matah pushes down on Fisher's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Matah wants to pass the guard but Fisher is defending well.

Matah wants to work for an arm triangle but Fisher is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Fisher looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Fisher won't allow Matah to pass to mount.
Fisher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Matah is trying to control. Fisher wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fisher throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Matah uses his free foot to push down on Fisher's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fisher.
Fisher can't escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Matah is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Fisher is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hiruku Matah!
Hiruku Matah tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
