Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ze Povinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ze Povinho!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Povinho on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Costa moves into the clinch.

Povinho drags the fight down to the ground.
Costa stays in close to Povinho's body and controls the position.

Povinho looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Costa's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Povinho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Costa defends well.
Costa tries to free his leg and advance position but Povinho is retaining full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Costa wants to control from the top but Povinho keeps moving.
Costa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Povinho on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Costa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gabriel Costa.

Costa clinches.

Costa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Costa ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Costa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Povinho keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
No luck for Povinho with that takedown attempt.

Costa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Povinho was covering up waiting for the punch and Costa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Povinho has a closed guard, preventing Costa from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Povinho trying to keep a closed guard but Costa is proving a slippery customer.
Costa throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Costa thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Costa trying to stand up but can't free himself from Povinho's guard.
Costa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Costa is breathing heavily.
Costa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Costa throwing strikes from guard but Povinho blocks nicely.
Costa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Povinho is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Costa frees his head nicely. Oh but Povinho has switched to an armbar! Costa is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
