Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Develen Elvington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Powell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elvington misses with a hook. Powell ducked under it nicely.
Powell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Elvington jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Elvington avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Elvington throws a shot from downtown. Powell moves away and avoids it.
Horrible takedown by Powell or perhaps it was just good defense by Elvington which made him look bad.
Powell throws a head kick that misses.
Elvington throws a body punch but Powell moves out of range.

Powell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Powell throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Elvington works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Powell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Elvington does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Elvington throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elvington is looking to improve his position.
Elvington on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Elvington tries to get out of the position.
Elvington pushes Powell off looking to stand but Powell dives back in and keeps control.
Powell wants to take a breather but Elvington is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Powell has a takedown stuffed.
Develen Elvington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Powell.
Elvington misses with a few strikes there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Elvington throws an overhand right that lands on Powell's shoulder, as Powell tries to avoid the shot.
A lazy left from Elvington finds it's target.
Powell misses with a series of wild punches.
Powell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Elvington throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Powell on the wrong end of a nice hook.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Elvington crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Powell - the referee stops the clock and Elvington gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Powell. Elvington manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Elvington misses with a wild body shot.
Powell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Elvington but Elvington pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Powell throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Elvington.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Powell throws a head kick that misses.
Elvington tests Powell's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Powell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Powell missing with knees to the body.

Powell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Powell throws a head kick that misses.
Powell wants to clinch.
Powell takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


Powell is rocked!
Elvington sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Powell's defenses. It connects perfectly with Powell's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Develen Elvington!
