Alvarez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodgins doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Alvarez darts in and clinches Hodgins up against the cage.
Alvarez goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Alvarez lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hodgins backwards.

Alvarez manages to break the clinch.
Alvarez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hodgins on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Alvarez. Alvarez obviously looking to wear him down.

Hodgins has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hodgins breaks from the clinch.
Hodgins attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Alvarez just misses with a punch to the body.
A nice combination there by Hodgins.
Hodgins takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hodgins has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Alvarez finds it's way round the side to connect with Hodgins's head.

Hodgins rushes Alvarez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hodgins is trying to break the clinch but Alvarez has him pressed against the cage.

Alvarez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Alvarez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Alvarez is looking to wear down Hodgins with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Alvarez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hodgins misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alvarez.
A nice inside leg kick there by Alvarez. That's going to slow Hodgins down.
Alvarez keeps the fight on the outside.
Hodgins walks into a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Alexander Hodgins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hodgins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hodgins is looking to land body kicks.
Alvarez works the jab nicely.
Hodgins is still on wobbly legs! Can Alvarez finish him?
Hodgins moves to clinch but Alvarez breaks away
and Alvarez rattles Hodgins with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Hodgins tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Alvarez dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Hodgins stiff and motionless on the mat!
