The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doyle tries for a takedown but Alkhanov circles away easily

and Alkhanov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Alkhanov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doyle wants to pass to mount but Alkhanov is defending the position.
Doyle wants to advance to full mount but Alkhanov doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Doyle prevents Alkhanov from getting back to his feet.
Alkhanov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Doyle is fighting to break Alkhanov's control of his arms but Alkhanov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Doyle advances to half guard.

Doyle uses his free foot to push down on Alkhanov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alkhanov.
