PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Greg Sandown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniello Pablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Greg Sandown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniello Pablo!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sandown gets tackled into the cage by Pablo. Pablo maintains the clinch.

Pablo has hold of one of Sandown's legs. Sandown is fighting the takedown attempt but Pablo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sandown is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pablo defends well.

Pablo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sandown has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pablo has managed to get both his arms back between Sandown's legs - danger averted.

Pablo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Pablo clinches up with Sandown and pushes him back against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pablo.

Pablo gets a trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sandown looking for submissions off his back.
Pablo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Pablo decides to return to a standing position.

Pablo closes the distance and clinches.
Pablo content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Pablo gets control of Sandown's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pablo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Pablo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Pablo uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Pablo pushes Sandown up against the cage in a clinch.
Pablo effectively controlling the action here.

Sandown has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pablo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sandown is breathing heavily.

Pablo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pablo manages to end up in side control.

Pablo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sandown shoots in for a takedown but Pablo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Pablo forces Sandown back against the cage and clinches.

Sandown is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pablo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sandown to the mat. Sandown regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Sandown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pablo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pablo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sandown is working an open guard so Pablo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Pablo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pablo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Pablo gets control of Sandown's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pablo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Pablo wriggles free and stands up.

Pablo closes the distance and clinches.

Pablo lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Pablo decides to return to a standing position.

Sandown tries to keep at a distance but Pablo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pablo lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Pablo scores with a nice hook to the head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pablo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Pablo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Pablo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sandown pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pablo is keeping the position for now.

Pablo scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pablo has Sandown up against the cage in a clinch.

Pablo jumps guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sandown sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pablo's guard.
Pablo pushes Sandown off but Sandown dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniello Pablo dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sandown prevents Pablo from getting back to his feet.

Sandown is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sandown drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sandown jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sandown thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Pablo kicks Sandown off and gets to his feet.

Pablo gets a clinch.
Pablo lands with a light punch inside.

Pablo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sandown is trying to keep an underhook but Pablo manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Pablo decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Pablo has taken the fight to the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Pablo.

Pablo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pablo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pablo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sandown is controlling him.

Pablo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pablo is looking to stand back up but Sandown counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pablo.

Sandown is looking for a kimura but Pablo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sandown to get the leverage.
Pablo wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sandown wants to pass to mount but Pablo is defending the position.

Sandown wants to work for an arm triangle but Pablo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pablo kicks Sandown off and gets back to his feet.

Sandown closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sandown lands in his opponent's guard.
Pablo wants to stand but Sandown is controlling the position.
Pablo is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Pablo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sandown dives into side control.
Pablo pushes Sandown away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sandown gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sandown tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Pablo bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pablo gets caught flat footed, as Sandown shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniello Pablo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Pablo lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Pablo is pushing Sandown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Pablo stops Sandown from getting back to his feet.
Pablo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sandown controls his leg.

Pablo decides to stand and escape the position.

Pablo has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sandown tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pablo is able to avoid easily.

Pablo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Pablo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pablo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Pablo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sandown off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Pablo closes the distance and pushes Sandown back into the cage.
Daniello Pablo seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Pablo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Pablo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sandown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pablo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sandown to stand up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pablo forces Sandown back against the cage and clinches.

Pablo has Sandown pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pablo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sandown tumbling to the mat - Pablo dives into Sandown's guard.

Pablo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pablo moves into the clinch successfully.
Pablo lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Pablo jumps guard.

Pablo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sandown dives into side control.
Pablo pushes Sandown away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sandown gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Greg Sandown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sandown thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniello Pablo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pablo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Daniello Pablo really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Ultra Fight Gear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
