The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Vogelpohl misses.
Vogelpohl throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Barksdale misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A looping hook to the body misses from Vogelpohl. Barksdale does a little dance to reset his feet.

Barksdale clinches up against the cage.
Vogelpohl wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Barksdale has him pressed against the cage.
Vogelpohl tries to work over Barksdale's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Barksdale has a couple of punches blocked by Vogelpohl.

Barksdale has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Vogelpohl regains guard immediately.

Barksdale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vogelpohl swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
