And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Geoff Deal!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Weitzer.
Weitzer misses with a takedown attempt - Deal sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Weitzer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Deal pinned against the cage. Deal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jan Weitzer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Horrible takedown by Weitzer or perhaps it was just good defense by Deal which made him look bad.

and Deal counters with a good, hard body kick but Weitzer shrugs it off.

and Deal counters with a slapping leg kick.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Weitzer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Weitzer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Deal for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Deal is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Weitzer asserts his dominance and retains side control.
