PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reginald Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandr Kokoev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is flame to the moth. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Reginald Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Kokoev!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Kokoev misses.
Hawk moves in looking to clinch but Kokoev pushes him off.
Hawk takes a swing at Kokoev's ribcage but misses.
Hawk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hawk instigates a clinch.
Hawk is struggling to control the position.

Kokoev jumps into guard, dragging Hawk to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kokoev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Kokoev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hawk postures up in Kokoev's guard and throws a big left but Kokoev blocks it.
Hawk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Reginald Hawk has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kokoev with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hawk to score with a decent uppercut.

Kokoev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hawk throws a right hand that Kokoev ducks under and follows up with a left that Kokoev also avoids with ease.
Hawk is looking to chop away at Kokoev's legs.

Hawk stuns Kokoev with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Hawk misses with the combination.
Kokoev avoids a kick to the body.
Hawk lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kokoev will feel that in the morning.

Kokoev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

No joy there for Hawk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hawk throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kokoev avoids the head kick by Hawk.
Hawk throws out a loose jab but Kokoev uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kokoev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hawk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kokoev throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kokoev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hawk is looking to clinch but Kokoev is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Kokoev counters with a left to the body.

Hawk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hawk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kokoev backs up against the cage.
Hawk stalks Kokoev and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kokoev's face. Kokoev staggers backwards, shaken.
Kokoev moves out of range as Hawk strikes.
Kokoev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively.

Hawk tries to bum rush Kokoev with a series of wild strikes but Kokoev uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Alexandr Kokoev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hawk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Reginald Hawk decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
