The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hieron closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hieron lands in his opponent's guard.
Riggs is trying to keep Hieron in close.
Hieron trying to control but Riggs is working from the bottom.
Riggs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hieron is one step ahead there.
Hieron in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hieron is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Riggs striking off his back but it's not causing Hieron any problems.
Riggs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hieron on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hieron tries to get out of the position.
Riggs not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Riggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Riggs with the ground and pound but Hieron uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Hieron has his hands on Riggs's head, controlling the position.
Hieron looking to hit a scissor sweep but Riggs is one step ahead there.
Riggs pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hieron is keeping the position for now.
Riggs wants to control from the top but Hieron keeps moving.
Hieron trying to keep a closed guard but Riggs is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hieron tries to close the distance and clinch but Riggs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hieron has closed the distance and engaged Riggs in a clinch.
Riggs tries to pull guard but Hieron holds him up against the cage and eventually Riggs drops back down to his feet.
Riggs jumps guard but Hieron stands there with Riggs around his waist. Riggs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Riggs prevents Hieron from breaking the clinch.

Hieron drags the fight down to the ground.
Hieron is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hieron is looking to sweep but instead, Riggs has passed into half guard.
Riggs is looking to take a break and control but Hieron is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hieron on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Riggs wants to free his trapped foot but Hieron is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
