PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doug Camcho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Camcho kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 'Satan Is A Lady' by Steriogram. Owen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen scores with a nice head shot.
Owen throws a right hand that misses
and Camcho counters with a stiff right hand.
Owen shoots in looking for a takedown. Camcho tries to sprawl out of it but Owen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Camcho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Camcho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Owen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Camcho has managed to get both his arms back between Owen's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Camcho is looking to advance position but Owen has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Owen throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Camcho is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Owen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Camcho is looking to escape.
Camcho tries to lock up and control but Owen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Camcho is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Owen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That was a close round but I would say that Doug Camcho will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Camcho takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Owen is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Owen slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Owen takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Owen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Camcho's waist but Camcho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Owen off to one side.

Owen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Owen's corner calls for a 1-2. Owen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Camcho stuns Owen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Owen seems to have recovered his senses.
Camcho fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Owen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Owen dives in and grabs Camcho's left leg, looking for a takedown. Camcho pushes down on Owen's head and hops out.
Owen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Camcho connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Owen scrambles back to his feet.
Camcho misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Camcho counters with a good low kick that Owen was not able to check.
Camcho bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Owen's head backwards.

Owen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Camcho swivels and escapes.
Camcho stuffs the takedown attempt from Owen. Owen gets slowly back to his feet.
Owen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Camcho stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Camcho waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Owen. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Owen to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Owen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Camcho is aware though and is defending well.
Camcho lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Owen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Camcho defends it easily.
Camcho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Owen's guard.
Camcho landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Camcho is trying to control the action in half guard but Owen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Camcho scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Camcho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Owen on the ground.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Owen shoots in looking for a takedown but Camcho manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Owen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Owen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Camcho.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Camcho defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Owen.
Camcho throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Owen crashing down! Owen tries to stagger back to his feet but Camcho just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Owen asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

A less than humble Doug Camcho misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
