Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randy Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Schwahn!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in and bounces Schwahn off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Schwahn wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Schwahn keeps moving.
Johnson stays in close to Schwahn's body and controls the position.
Schwahn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwahn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Randy Johnson just wasn't active enough.

Schwahn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schwahn lands in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No joy there for Schwahn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Schwahn is trying to control but can't.
Schwahn is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Schwahn is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Randy Johnson.

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schwahn can do anything to dispel that myth.
Johnson wants to control but Schwahn is keeping him busy.

Johnson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Schwahn regains guard.
Schwahn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schwahn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Schwahn looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Johnson has picked Schwahn up and slammed him! Schwahn can't keep hold of the triangle and Johnson manages to pass to side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Randy Johnson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Schwahn to the mat! Schwahn manages to get full guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Randy Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Schwahn is looking to control Johnson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Schwahn avoid being mounted?
Johnson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Randy Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Schwahn enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Schwahn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
