The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as van der Vaart blocks the leg kick.
van der Vaart swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Desormeaux tries to score a power double leg takedown but van der Vaart sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Desormeaux somewhat.

van der Vaart cracks Desormeaux with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. van der Vaart has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Desormeaux to stand back up!
van der Vaart connects with the punch.

van der Vaart feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Desormeaux crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Soloman van der Vaart decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
