The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alsted throws a leg kick

and Banza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Banza wants to control from the top but Alsted keeps moving.

Banza working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alsted knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Banza on the ground.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Alsted holds on and takes a little breather.

Banza drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Banza jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Alsted wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Alsted tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Banza was well out of range. Poor timing from Alsted.

Banza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alsted can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alsted is sitting in close to Banza's body. Banza has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Alsted is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Alsted is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Banza.
