Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Derek Osland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Whittaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osland lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Whittaker backs up against the cage.
Osland tries to clinch up.
Whittaker is looking to clinch but Osland is avoiding it.
Sloppy strikes from Osland. Those never looked like landing.
Whittaker throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Osland.
Osland fails with a takedown attempt.
Osland tries to bum rush Whittaker with a series of wild strikes but Whittaker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Whittaker wants to control from the top but Osland keeps moving.
Osland lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Whittaker!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Osland can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Whittaker is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Whittaker wants to hold on but Osland pushes him away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Derek Osland will probably get the nod.
