Davidson has chosen Regina Spektor - Après Moi as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Davidson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson misses with a head kick.
Kawashima lands a lovely overhand right.
Kawashima getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kawashima looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kawashima swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kawashima throws a low kick but it's checked well by Davidson.
Kawashima takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A slow jab from Kawashima misses its intended target.
Kawashima walks into a jab.
Kawashima takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Davidson tries a head kick but it misses.
Kawashima takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Davidson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kawashima takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Davidson moves into range and clinches up with Kawashima.
Davidson misses with a hook from the clinch.
Davidson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Kawashima lands with a short shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kawashima blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kawashima lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Davidson backwards.
Kawashima tries to throw a body punch but Davidson avoids it by throwing Kawashima back against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Davidson fails to land.
Davidson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Davidson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kawashima works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Kawashima prevents a body shot from Davidson.
Davidson lands with a left to the head.
Davidson misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Kawashima breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kawashima jabs at Davidson's body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kawashima blocks the body kick.
Kawashima throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Davidson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Davidson looks winded!
The fighters circling - Davidson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kawashima.
Kawashima misses with a two punch combination.
Davidson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kawashima throws a good cross that connects.
Kawashima throws a leg kick but Davidson sees it coming and moves out of range.
Davidson misses with a kick to the body
and Kawashima counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kawashima tests Davidson's chin there with a solid looking shot.


Davidson is rocked!
Davidson walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Kawashima swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Eiji Kawashima!
Eiji Kawashima retains his welterweight title!
After winning the bout, Eiji Kawashima thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
