PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jalen Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Galat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jalen Hill has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jalen Hill seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jalen Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leon Galat!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galat with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hill counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hill wants to free his trapped foot but Galat is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hill is trying to control the action in half guard but Galat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Galat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hill is working away from the top position though.
Hill seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Galat does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hill is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Galat sees it coming and defends easily.
Galat wants to get back to full guard.

Hill is looking for a kimura but Galat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hill to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Galat looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hill is taking a breather. Galat says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hill trying to work for an americana but Galat has managed to regain full guard.
Hill slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hill has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Galat throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hill trying to control but Galat is working from the bottom.
Galat looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hill is one step ahead there.
Hill trying to control the position from guard on top but Galat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jalen Hill just wasn't active enough.

Hill closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hill lands in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Galat is keeping the position for now.
Hill is working hard here to advance position.
Hill engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hill passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hill is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Galat's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hill working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Hill is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Galat has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hill thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Galat's face as Hill controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jalen Hill dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Galat ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hill moves away.
Hill swats away the attempt to clinch by Galat.
Galat doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hill counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hill.
Hill trying to control the position from guard on top but Galat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Galat looking to control.
Hill is stalling in the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hill wants to control from the top but Galat keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jalen Hill wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Galat fails with the takedown

and Hill decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Galat's guard.
Hill sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Galat's guard.
Galat trying to hold on to Hill's head to control him but Hill postures up.

Hill is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Galat is just riding it out for now. Hill eventually gives up the hold.

Hill is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Galat has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hill. Oh but Galat has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hill goes limp - he's gone! Galat jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Leon Galat!
