PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Meeoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meeoff comes into the arena with bawitaba blaring out of the sound system. Steel has chosen Immortal Technique-Point of no return as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 18 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jack Meeoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cory Steel!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meeoff tries to score a power double leg takedown but Steel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Meeoff somewhat.
Steel looks to land a combination but Meeoff avoids it well.
Steel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Steel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Meeoff.
Meeoff throws a sloppy head kick and Steel moves out of range easily.
Steel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Meeoff closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Steel to the mat! Steel manages to get full guard.
Meeoff with a flurry of punches that miss.
Steel wants to stand up but Meeoff is controlling him.

Meeoff drops back looking for a leg! Steel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Steel manages to kick Meeoff off! Meeoff jumps back into Steel's guard.
Meeoff wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.
Meeoff in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meeoff is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Steel has escaped the position, nice work there.

Meeoff decides to stand up, so the ref orders Steel to his feet.
Meeoff is looking to clinch.
Steel looks to throw the jab but Meeoff is out of range.
Steel throws a series of punches but Meeoff moves out of range.
Meeoff keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Meeoff slips under a jab from Steel.
Meeoff bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Meeoff looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Meeoff shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Steel napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Meeoff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Steel sneaks out the side door and pushes Meeoff away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Steel throws a hook to the side of Meeoff's head but Meeoff sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jack Meeoff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Meeoff fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Meeoff throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Steel's waist but Steel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Meeoff off to one side.

I think Steel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
