The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cyr is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Matter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Matter tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyr is retaining full guard.

Matter is stalling here. Cyr is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Matter seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cyr has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Matter explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Matter is trying to trip Cyr. He has hold of a leg but Cyr is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Matter persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cyr is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Matter rolls with it to try and escape but Cyr cranks on the arm and Matter is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
