The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez misses with a body kick.

King gets a clinch.

Velazquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kain Velazquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velazquez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Velazquez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Velazquez looks to land a body kick but King moved away.
Velazquez keeps the fight on the outside.
Velazquez just misses with a punch to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King darts in and clinches Velazquez up against the cage.
Velazquez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Velazquez lands with a short head shot on the inside.
A body shot lands from Velazquez.
King tries a knee to the head but Velazquez blocks it.
Velazquez lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
King creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Velazquez breaks from the clinch.
King fails with an attempt to clinch.
Velazquez looks to land a right hand but King moved out of range.
Velazquez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Velazquez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck King on the side of the head.
King looks to land a body kick but Velazquez moved away.
King defending well as Velazquez loads up on a big left hand.

King misses with a jab, cross combination.
King walks into a jab.
Velazquez looks to land a left hand but King moved out of range nicely.
Velazquez misses with a wild body shot.
Velazquez takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Velazquez pivots, looking for a leg kick but King is out of range and Velazquez settles back down.
King moves in looking to clinch but Velazquez pushes him off.
King's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Velazquez connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! King scrambles back to his feet.

King is rocked!
Velazquez fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops King to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! King looks to clinch but Velazquez throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! King taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Kain Velazquez! Kain Velazquez retains his light heavyweight title!
