Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Garelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garelli's entrance music is Patriarch on a Vespa. A fine choice. LePew has chosen KC & The Sunshine Band - Get Down Tonight as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Garelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pierre LePew!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LePew connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Garelli avoids the body shot from LePew.
LePew scores with a punch to the head.
LePew throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
LePew gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Garelli.
LePew is looking to chop away at Garelli's legs.
LePew looks to land a right hand but Garelli moved out of range.
Garelli throws a nice head kick!
LePew cracks Garelli with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Garelli jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Pierre LePew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

LePew lunges at Garelli with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Garelli's hand.

Garelli connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
LePew just misses with a punch to the body.
LePew throws a low kick, looking for Garelli's leg but Garelli calmly moves out of range.

Garelli closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into LePew's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Garelli not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

LePew tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Garelli has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Garelli is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But LePew has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from LePew!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

LePew stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garelli swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Garelli is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
LePew stands up over Garelli, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

LePew tries to score a power double leg takedown but Garelli sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten LePew somewhat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Garelli feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joe Garelli wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Garelli throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around LePew's waist but LePew gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Garelli off to one side.

Garelli goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, LePew has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Garelli but great work by LePew.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Garelli.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
