The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hotaru fails with the takedown.
Lanakila throws a shot from downtown. Hotaru moves away and avoids it.
Hotaru blocks a head kick by Lanakila.
The fighters circling - Lanakila throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Lanakila is trying to maintain the position but Hotaru is very close to passing his half guard.
Hotaru frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hotaru looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Hotaru goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lanakila is on top in guard.
Hotaru wants to sweep here but Lanakila controlling him for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lanakila accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lanakila wants to control from the top but Hotaru keeps moving.
Lanakila is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hotaru has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lanakila can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hotaru is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hotaru passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Lanakila!

Hotaru jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lanakila is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lanakila and Hotaru has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Lanakila is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hotaru off and has taken his back!
Lanakila lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Lanakila has Hotaru flattened out and is raining down punches.

Lanakila wants to control but Hotaru is keeping busy.

Lanakila is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hotaru defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Lanakila gets caught flat footed, as Hotaru shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hotaru should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lanakila is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hotaru throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lanakila escapes and throws Hotaru's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hotaru manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lanakila's best efforts.

Hotaru is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lanakila's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lanakila's back!
Hotaru doesn't have the hooks in and Lanakila manages to turn into his guard.

Lanakila has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hotaru to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lanakila is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hotaru pulls down on the head and he's put Lanakila to sleep! This one is all over!
