PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anders Bergh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hu Kokov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bergh comes to the cage accompanied by Vision of disorder, living to die. On his way into the cage it seems that Anders Bergh has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Anders Bergh seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anders Bergh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hu Kokov!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bergh misses with a takedown attempt
and Kokov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Bergh forces Kokov back against the cage and clinches.

Kokov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bergh misses with a takedown
and Kokov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kokov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Berghs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Bergh tries to clinch up.
Kokov misses with a looping right.
Kokov loads up on a big right hand but Bergh slips the punch.
Bergh shoots and misses
and Kokov counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anders Bergh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bergh slips a straight right by Kokov.

Bergh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kokov, pushing him back against the cage.

Kokov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kokov cracks Bergh with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Kokov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kokov has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kokov misses with a hook. Bergh ducked under it nicely.
Bergh wants to clinch up but Kokov keeps it at a distance.

Bergh shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Bergh is looking for a kimura but Kokov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bergh to get the leverage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kokov preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kokov is defending against the submission attempts here by Bergh.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bergh is pressing down on Kokov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kokov is holding on for now.
Kokov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bergh.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bergh trying to control but Kokov is working from the bottom.
Bergh looking to sit in guard and control but Kokov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kokov stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Anders Bergh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bergh misses with a takedown attempt
and Bergh takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kokov's corner calls for a 1-2. Kokov obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bergh forces Kokov back against the cage and clinches.
Bergh jumps guard but Kokov stands there with Bergh around his waist. Bergh gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kokov tries to break free but Bergh pushes him back against the cage.

Kokov breaks from the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kokov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Oooh a lovely combination from Kokov sends Bergh down but not out. Kokov dives into side control looking to finish.


Bergh is rocked!

Kokov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Oh Bergh is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kokov is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bergh had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hu Kokov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bergh misses with a takedown
and Kokov counters with a huge left! Bergh is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kokov isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Bergh from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kokov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hu Kokov!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Hu Kokov waved his t-shirt featuring Prestige Nutrition (160!)'s logo in front of the cameras.
