PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raoul Moray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joey Reid was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Raoul Moray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Reid!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moray connects with an inside leg kick.
Moray really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Reid changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moray tries to avoid it but Reid manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moray to the ground. Moray escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Reid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moray avoids it really well and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Reid is defended easily by Moray.
Raoul Moray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Reid.
Reid throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moray's waist but Moray gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reid off to one side.

Moray has taken the fight to the clinch.
Reid changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Moray fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Moray rushes Reid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Moray is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Reid is working for takedown but Moray is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Moray decides to pull guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Reid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Moray dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reid escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Moray gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Moray controls from within his opponent's guard.
Moray wants to control from the top but Reid keeps moving.

Moray postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reid is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Moray, into his guard.

Moray kicks Reid off and gets to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moray tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reid sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Moray somewhat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reid shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moray as he avoids it easily.
Moray shoots in but no luck this time.
Reid shoots for a double leg takedown but Moray sprawls well. He's pushed Reid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Moray instigates a clinch.

Moray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Moray.
Reid with a poor takedown
and Moray counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moray slaps away a takedown attempt from Reid, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Reid shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moray as he jumps to the side.

Moray closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Reid gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Reid looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Moray is defending against the submission attempts here by Reid.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Moray looks like he's trying to stand up.
Moray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reid on the ground.

Reid is trying to work for a kimura but Moray is defending well.

Reid is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Moray sees it coming and defends easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Reid is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reid is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Moray is just riding it out for now. Reid eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joey Reid will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Reid closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moray circles away.

Reid shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Moray is trying to defend but Reid finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Reid wants to pass to mount but Moray is defending the position.
Moray gets back to full guard.
Moray trying to keep a closed guard but Reid is proving a slippery customer.
Joey Reid has got the better of the ground game so far.

Reid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reid drops back looking for a leg! Moray is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Moray manages to kick Reid off! Reid jumps back into Moray's guard.

Reid passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Moray tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Reid is working to tighten is grip on Moray's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Moray has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Reid is really squeezing tight and eventually Moray passes out! Reid breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joey Reid!
