Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shamar Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Suggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Freak on a Leash. Shamar Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Suggs!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suggs throws a nice head kick!
Suggs fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jackson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Suggs throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Suggs throws a shot from downtown. Jackson moves away and avoids it.
Suggs looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Suggs moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Suggs tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Suggs tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson.
Suggs throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily.

Suggs using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jackson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Suggs tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Jackson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Suggs smiles and moves away.
Suggs throws a front kick that sends Jackson stumbling back into the cage.

Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Suggs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jackson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Suggs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Suggs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Suggs!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee asks Suggs politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Suggs prefers to stall for the moment though.
Suggs is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Suggs's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jackson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Suggs has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Jackson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Suggs manages to capitalize on a mistake by Jackson to take his back!
I really don't envy Jackson right now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Suggs lands with a kick to the temple. Jackson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Jackson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Suggs misses with a head kick.
Matt Suggs seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Suggs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Suggs throws a head kick but Jackson moves out of range.
Suggs lands with an uppercut that bounces Jackson off the cage and back into range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Suggs throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Suggs sprawls well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Suggs in particular looking to stall.

Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Suggs tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Suggs to the ground. Suggs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Suggs has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
