Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fin Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shark's entrance music is Dan Sebenarnya. A fine choice. Paiva has chosen 2001 : Oddysey as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fin Shark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Paiva!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paiva shoots in for a takedown but Shark shows good takedown defense.
Shark tries for a takedown but Paiva circles away easily

and Paiva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Paiva.

Paiva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paiva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paiva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shark works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Paiva scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Shark looking for a guillotine here but Paiva defends easily.
Paiva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Shark is trying to keep Paiva in close.

Paiva throws a strike but Shark rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Shark wants to pass the guard but Paiva is keeping the position.
Paiva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Paiva with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Shark is looking to get to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paiva is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shark is surviving well by controlling Paiva's body position as best he can.

Paiva with shots to the head and body - Shark looks very uncomfortable down there.

Paiva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shark defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Paiva.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shark is working to get back to half guard.

Paiva has hold of Shark's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shark manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Paiva is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shark has managed to escape the submission attempt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Thud! ouch! good body kick from Shark - that will leave a mark!
Paiva has his takedown stuffed

and Shark counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Paiva thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paiva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shark drops back looking for a leg! Paiva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Paiva manages to kick Shark off! Shark jumps back into Paiva's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Paiva pushes a forearm under Shark's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Shark is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
