PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between French Toast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toast comes into the arena with EAZY-E - Real Muthaphuckkin' G's blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mayer's choice of entrance music: I´m shipping out to Boston - Dropkick Murphys. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, French Toast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Mayer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toast changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mayer tries to avoid it but Toast manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mayer to the ground. Mayer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mayer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Toast.
No joy there for Toast, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mayer misses with a looping right.
Toast throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mayer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Toast ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Toast is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mayer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mayer throws a hook but Toast blocks it.
Toast swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mayer throws a lazy right hand but Toast sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

French Toast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like French Toast has been cut.

Mayer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Toast.

Toast tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Toast shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mayer's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mayer manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Mayer, under a barage of strikes from Toast.
Mayer wants to control but Toast is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Toast winds up and cracks Mayer with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Toast working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


That has opened up John Mayer's cut even more.
Mayer wants to get back to full guard.
Mayer wants to control but Toast is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Toast not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mayer tries to roll over but Toast keeps him under control.
Toast is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mayer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Toast.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mayer wants to get back to full guard.
Toast thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mayer's head.
Toast trying to control the action but Mayer is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that French Toast will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Toast's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Mayer counters with a straight right hand.
Toast misses with a wild body shot.
Nice takedown defense from Mayer. No joy for Toast on that attempt.
Toast throws a lazy uppercut

and Mayer counters with a crisp right hand that drops Toast! Mayer lets Toast back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mayer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Toast shoots in and gets a takedown into Mayer's guard.
Mayer wants to get back to his feet but Toast is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Toast throws a strike but Mayer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Toast looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Toast might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mayer postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Toast is on top in guard.
Mayer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mayer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Toast throws a strike but Mayer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mayer scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Toast has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mayer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Mayer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Toast!

French Toast overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Toast is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mayer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Toast keeps working.

John Mayer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

John Mayer's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Mayer's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

French Toast seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
