Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Filipovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karlos Mendieta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendieta throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Filipovic tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mendieta is in Filipovic's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mendieta shoots for a double leg takedown but Filipovic sprawls well. He's pushed Mendieta's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mendieta doesn't manage to clinch there - Filipovic circles away.
Mendieta shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Filipovic as he avoids it easily.

Mendieta closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendieta lands in his opponent's guard.
Filipovic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendieta on the ground.

Filipovic is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Filipovic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mendieta tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Filipovic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mendieta shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Filipovic but Filipovic pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mirko Filipovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlos Mendieta.

Filipovic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mendieta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Filipovic as he jumps to the side.

Mendieta takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Mendieta closes the distance looking to clinch
and Filipovic counters with a nice body shot.
The fighters circle, before Filipovic throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Mendieta's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Filipovic lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
