The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Jackson drives through and clinches with Gracie against the cage.

Gracie looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gracie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Jackson digs a right hand into Gracie's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gracie's gas tank.
Gracie has Jackson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jackson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jackson tries to throw a body punch but Gracie avoids it by throwing Jackson back against the cage.

Gracie has picked Jackson up - he's going for a ride! Gracie dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We've been told by Jackson's head coaches at Black Hand Gymnasium LV that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jackson lands with a hook. Gracie tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gracie takes one to the chin there.
Gracie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jackson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
