PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Van Persie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Alves had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robin Van Persie!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves has Van Persie up against the cage in a clinch.
Alves tries to land knees in the clinch but Van Persie avoids the damage to the body.

Robin Van Persie has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Alves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Persie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Van Persie is breathing heavily.

Alves misses with a series of wild punches.

Alves closes the distance and pushes Van Persie back into the cage.
Van Persie looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Van Persie trying to control the position but instead, Alves has worked for underhooks and has pushed Van Persie into the cage.

Alves is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Van Persie can't fight it off and eventually Alves manages to take the fight to the floor. Van Persie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Van Persie wants to get back to his feet but Alves is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Alves remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
