The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcdonald shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mcdonald showed some decent athleticism there.
William is looking to improve his position.
Mcdonald drops an elbow to the side of William's head.
Mcdonald controlling the pace.

Mcdonald postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for William to stand up.
William lands with an uppercut that bounces Mcdonald off the cage and back into range.

William gets caught napping as Mcdonald dives in and scores a takedown. William manages to retain guard.

Mcdonald stands and throws William's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mcdonald is staying tight to William's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Let's hope that Mcdonald has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
William is looking for a sweep.

Mcdonald throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

William gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mcdonald to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
You can see the frustration on William's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
William tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcdonald wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

William is trying to improve his position.

William knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcdonald on the ground.
William wants to hold on but Mcdonald pushes him away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcdonald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. William can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Calib Mcdonald dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

William's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and William duly obliges.
Mcdonald shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mcdonald fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mcdonald tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but William paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mcdonald closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Calib Mcdonald has got the better of the ground game so far.
William wants to get back to full guard but Mcdonald has mounted him!
