PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Calib Mcdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcdonald comes to the ring accompanied by Jay-Z-Bring em Out. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens tries to clinch up.
Stevens buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Mcdonald clinches up against the ropes.
Stevens tries to break the clinch but Mcdonald is controlling the position.
Stevens gets underhooks to prevent Mcdonald's takedown attempt.
Mcdonald misses with a hook from the clinch.
Stevens wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Stevens manages to break the clinch.
Stevens tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Mcdonald manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stevens lands with a slapping head kick.

It looks like Calib Mcdonald has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stevens gets caught napping as Mcdonald dives in and scores a takedown. Stevens manages to retain guard.
Mcdonald working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stevens looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevens, not yet.

Stevens is working an open guard so Mcdonald takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stevens gets caught napping as Mcdonald dives in and scores a takedown. Stevens manages to retain guard.
Mcdonald is breathing heavily.
Mcdonald trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stevens wants to sweep but no luck.
Mcdonald won't allow Stevens to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcdonald is looking to work some ground and pound but Stevens has wrist control.
Mcdonald postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mcdonald throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stevens wants to get back to his feet but Mcdonald is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mcdonald keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stevens's head.
Stevens wants to sweep here but Mcdonald controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Mcdonald gets to his feet - Stevens follows without any prompting.

Mcdonald shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stevens manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mcdonald drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Mcdonald seems to have locked his on tight now - Stevens screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Mcdonald, as he picks up the win!
