PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between King Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yamada Taiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yamada Taiki!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taiki clinches.
Taiki gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bass.

Taiki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Taiki tries to clinch up but Bass circles away and keeps his distance.

Taiki drives through and clinches with Bass against the cage.

Bass tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Taiki will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bass up against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Taiki is looking to control Bass's arms but Bass gets an underhook and turns him. Now Taiki has his back to the cage.
Bass drops down looking for an ankle pick but Taiki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Bass shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Taiki as he jumps to the side.
Taiki tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bass misses with a takedown attempt - Taiki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Taiki stuffs the takedown attempt from Bass. Bass gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bass changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taiki tries to avoid it but Bass manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taiki to the ground. Taiki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bass moves into full mount!

Bass goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Taiki is on top in guard.

Bass escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Taiki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bass has an active guard here but Taiki has managed to pass into half guard.

Taiki wants to stand but Bass has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Bass wants to control but Taiki is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bass wants to sweep but Taiki has passed to side control!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Taiki wants to stand but Bass is controlling his arm.
Bass tries to bench press Taiki off him but Taiki keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on Bass's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bass manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Bass is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bass prevents Taiki from standing back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Taiki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bass's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bass's back!
Taiki really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Bass.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Taiki pushes Bass off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bass shoots in but no luck this time.

Taiki wants to clinch.
Bass swats away the attempt to clinch by Taiki.
Taiki throws a sloppy head kick and Bass moves out of range easily.
Bass avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Bass bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Taiki tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Bass doesn't have the hooks in and Taiki manages to turn into his guard.
Taiki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Taiki decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bass, up you get!
Bass shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Taiki as he avoids it easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to King Bass.
I think Bass has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
