PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otter Odder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Umberton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Otter Odder has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Otter Odder seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Otter Odder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mister Umberton!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Umberton with a poor takedown

so Odder counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Odder wants to control from the top but Umberton keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Odder throwing strikes but missing.
Odder postures up and lands a big shot to Umberton's brow.
Odder is in close to Umberton's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Umberton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Odder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Odder showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Umberton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Odder trying to control the position from guard on top but Umberton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Umberton controls Odder momentarily but Odder frees himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Umberton has his takedown stuffed

and Odder counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Umberton throws his legs up looking for a submission but Odder uses it to pass to side control.
Odder wants to lay and pray for a moment but Umberton keeps working.

Umberton is looking for a sweep.

Odder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Odder postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Odder tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Odder is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Umberton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Umberton parries the strikes from Odder easily there. Odder is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Umberton to escape.

Umberton tries to escape but Odder is in control.
Umberton wants to control but Odder postures up.
Umberton managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Odder.
Odder working away.

Odder goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Umberton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Odder but great work by Umberton.
Odder prevents Umberton from improving position.
Umberton taking a break here but Odder is having none of it and regains half guard.

Umberton tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Odder is looking to escape.
Umberton sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Odder defending well though.
Odder wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Odder wants to control but Umberton is keeping busy.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Odder gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otter Odder dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


An inside leg kick from Umberton misses.
Odder shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Umberton as he jumps to the side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Umberton enables Odder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Umberton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Otter Odder overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Odder drops back looking for a leg! Umberton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Umberton manages to kick Odder off! Odder jumps back into Umberton's guard.
Odder wants to control from the top but Umberton keeps moving.

Umberton is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Odder showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Odder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Umberton clinches up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Odder.
Umberton is looking to break free of the clinch but Odder has double underhooks.
Umberton has had enough of the clinch but Odder keeps him there for the moment.

Umberton goes for a takedown attempt but Odder pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Umberton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Umberton fails to pull guard.
Odder wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otter Odder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Odder has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Umberton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Umberton is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Odder gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Odder misses with a hook to the ribs.

Odder pulls Umberton into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Odder is looking to stand up but Umberton isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mister Umberton.
Umberton shoots for a double leg takedown but Odder sprawls well. He's pushed Umberton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Odder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Umberton is looking for a triangle here but Odder uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Odder wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Umberton, who protects the arm well.
Umberton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Odder asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Umberton tries to bench press Odder off him but Odder keeps the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Umberton wants to get back to his feet.
Umberton sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Otter Odder will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Umberton rushes Odder and presses him up against the cage.
Odder looking to stall.
Umberton jumps guard but Odder stands there with Umberton around his waist. Umberton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Odder drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Umberton gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Odder is trying to pull guard but Umberton turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Umberton prevents a body shot from Odder.
Odder misses with a hook to the ribs.
Odder can't find room to land a body shot as Umberton controls the action.
Umberton tries to land a knee to the head but Odder blocks with his arms.
A short body shot lands from Odder as the two fighters clinch.
Odder looking for a takedown.

Odder wants a takedown but no success here.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Odder tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Odder is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Umberton pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Umberton tries to break the clinch but Odder is controlling the position.
Umberton tries to score a body lock takedown but Odder shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Odder throws a punch but it's blocked by Umberton.
Umberton tries to break free but Odder pushes him back against the cage.
Umberton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Odder smiles and moves away.

Umberton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Umberton is not content to let Odder control the position.
Odder missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Nice strikes from Odder there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Umberton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Umberton is defending against the submission attempts here by Odder.
Odder prevents Umberton from standing back up.

Odder uses his free foot to push down on Umberton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Umberton.
Umberton wants to try and get back to his feet.

Odder has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Umberton is forced to tap!
