The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Narvaez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Luthor is trying to defend but Narvaez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Luthor enables Narvaez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Luthor manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Narvaez is in close to Luthor's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Narvaez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Luthor swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Luthor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Narvaez throws an elbow that misses. Luthor uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Narvaez's guard. Nice move by Luthor!

Luthor is fighting to break Narvaez's control of his arms but Narvaez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Narvaez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Narvaez throws a right and a left that Luthor avoids nicely.
Luthor throws a leg kick but Narvaez sees it coming and moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
