The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le Gars tries to sprawl but Hightower drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hightower looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hightower takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hightower wants to lay and pray for a moment but Le Gars keeps working.
Le Gars is trying to get back to full guard.
Le Gars really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hightower. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hightower sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Hightower is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Le Gars sees it coming and defends easily.
Hightower is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hightower wants to pass to mount but Le Gars is defending the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hightower in particular looking to stall.
Hightower has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Le Gars defend it? Hightower steps over the head and cranks it - Le Gars is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hightower!
