Horrible takedown by Karelin or perhaps it was just good defense by Joaquin which made him look bad.

Karelin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Karelin showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Joaquin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Joaquin wants to sweep but no luck.
Karelin stays in close to Joaquin's body and controls the position.

Joaquin is looking for a triangle but Karelin pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joaquin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karelin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Joaquin is tightening it up a little... Karelin has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Karelin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Karelin taps out! Nice BJJ there by Joaquin!
