PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hank Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lex Luthor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luthor has chosen Money as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lex Luthor was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luthor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Luthor shoots for a double leg takedown but Houston sprawls well. He's pushed Luthor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Houston fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Houston throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hank Houston. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Houston is breathing heavily.
Houston swats away the attempt to clinch by Luthor.

Both fighters circling a little - Luthor finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Luthor bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Luthor is looking to take a break and control but Houston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Luthor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Houston's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Luthor is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Houston is surviving well by controlling Luthor's body position as best he can.

Houston is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Luthor is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Luthor lands a big shot there that rocks Houston but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Houston wants to hold on but Luthor pushes him away.
Luthor takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well Luthor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
