The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Howlett was well out of range. Poor timing from Markov.
Markov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Howlett throws out the jab.
Markov shoots for a takedown but Howlett saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Markov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Howlett as he avoids it easily.
James Howlett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxim Markov.
Howlett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Markov ducks right into an uppercut from Howlett.
Maxim Markov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Howlett drops Markov with a right and a left! Howlett comes rushing in but Markov regains his composure and manages to keep Howlett in guard.

Markov is rocked!

It looks like Maxim Markov has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Markov has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Howlett has passed into side control.
Markov is still in real trouble! Can Howlett finish him?
Howlett scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Markov is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Howlett can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
