The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolverine fails to land the takedown.
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wolverine.
Wolverine misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wolverine keeps the fight on the outside.
Wolverine moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off.
Wolverine shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wolverine tries to lock up and control but Alves gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Alves leaves Wolverine with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wolverine sprawls well. Wolverine wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alves gets slowly back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Wolverine really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Alves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Alves has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Wolverine is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nick Alves is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wolverine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alves on the ground.
